Hi guys!
Lately this cheap Laney amp has caught my attention. Used ones can be acquired for quite reasonable prices. Schematic can be found on freeinfosociety. Seems like a great source for a modding/rebuilding project.
The only question remaining is about the quality of the transformers.
Well - the PT draws no questions - schematic shows 460V as the plate voltage for this amp - no problems there.
What about OT - anyone knows the quality of it?

Well it is a small sample size, but both GH100L's that have come across my bench, have needed OT's.
But they sounded great once fixed.

hmm, did you happen to figure out what caused the death of the OT? Burned tube or bad transformer design?

Not really sure what caused the tranny failure. They didn't have bad tubes when I got them. But both had very low output, and the problem and fix for both was replacing the output transformer. I'm sure there is more info on the web on these.
Good luck

Searched the web a bit - it seems like there really is a problem with output transformers. Looks like they work for ever or die young. Depends how lucky you are
