One that always puzzled me was the CD30.... It has a JTM 45 PT , Vibrolux/bassman OT and 4x6L6's.. Was he starving the power tubes for the tone?

Do you get any breakup with yours? Mine is about as close to a Twin as you could get... Very disappointed..

I have a Diaz Classic Twin 100 and the amp is unreal... Chimey Fender Cleans, and Marshall Balls when you push it. It by far has the most headroom of any amp I've owned, but it can be tamed too! Love it!

What are you disappointed with, and maybe I can help?
I run a series if analog pedals right into the amp, and also use a Radial ABY to switch channels or employ both at the same time.
If you use a Cesar-built model, they are truly amazing amplifiers... I cannot speak of the new McMahon-made as I do not own one of those and I hear they do not have the same mojo as the Cesar-made.
What I most like is that you can get both a gorgeous clean, but a nasty grind from it as well if you crank the channel volume/s and keep the Master volume low to not piss off the neighbors.
Let me know your thoughts and I'll try to help.

I've owned 2 CD build,, cd30 and a Pxx..
they all seem to have the same circuits outside different trannies...
The cd30 is exactly as you described, clean tight low end, with a nice top end break up..
Mine has the fender tone but you couldn't get this thing to grunt if you wanted to..
Gotta be voltage supplies...???

The really odd thing about the CD30 was it had 4x6L6s with a JTM45 power tran and a vibrolux/bandmaster output .
I regret no taking more voltage readings... That's one hell of a mismatch.. I always thought he may have been starving the power tubes..

4k primary with a quad of 6l6s equals 8k with a pair (ala jtm45). and a good jtm45 PT will probably power a quad of 6l6s

Anybody still interested in this thread.I still have a cd30 and a pxx combo.I dont see the Diaz site anymore, maybe there was a falling out with Mcmahon and Maggie.Anybody know id Pete is making amps.I really like my Diaz amps,Pete did a nice job building his amps.I dis once play a brown classic twin that Ceasare built owned by Warren H.It was a monster!!!Not much like a fender but a blast to play, really loud.I would still love to get my hands on one of those classic twins CD built ,M

yea im still interested in the thread!! haha...From what ive read and heard from people..The Cesar built amps were somewhat sloppy and sort of unreliable..Peter builds great stuff..The amps are the same same tone same everything..Peter still does build here and there but not in a mass production sort of way anymore...The Cd100s are great and if you ever find one cesar built or peter built snag it..Those amps will always be worth a ton and will always sound great...Even if you havent played one you never ever see them for sale..The less you see something for sale the better it probably sounds..

You need 1K 5Watt grid resistors instead of the 470 values that are probably in it..
I own several of the Cesar and later edition stuff...
The later was much cleaner work imho...
