Silvertone radio

I picked up an old Silvertone tube radio and was planning on gutting it and building an amp inside, but I was looking at schematics and old manuals for it and it gave instructions for adding a phono jack. Would I be able to use the phono jack as a guitar input? I was intrigued because it runs on 6v6 tubes and is in working shape.
