FS : 1971 MARSHALL Major 200w

Post by bill bokey » Thu Apr 05, 2018 11:09 am

1971 MARSHALL Major 200W head in excellent condition.

New filter and bias capacitors (JJ, RIFA), new diodes and extra 220R screen resistors (470R total, for better tube longevity), new power and standby switches and IEC plug.
All other components and transformers are original.
Preamp tubes are New Old Stock RFT ECC83 (V1 & V2) and Mullard ECC82 (V3). Power tubes are brand new TAD KT88s.

The amp sounds great ! From a big and sparkly clean tone at low volume settings to a fat and warm crunch at higher volumes, it sounds nothing like any other Marshall I have played. Don't let the 200W scare you : it is not as loud as a 100W Super Lead, in fact it is actually a lot more usuable dut to the richness of the tone at low volume. Also great for bass.

It's a very unique beast, a must have for all Marshall afficionados.

Price : 2950€

The '69 1982B cabinet is not included in the sale but is also available, PM for more info.
