Worth checking out?

Alright, picked it up for $80! Red fasel, has the Ducati non-polarized cap.

Swapping the white box shaped 0.22uf caps for a pair of 100v Mullard Tropical Fish. Just rebuilt the switch.

I'll post clips of it once I get a chance to post clips of my latest homemade fuzz.

Edit: also swapping the trannies for a pair of NOS BC108's.

This wah is so sick. It needs new trannies though, very hussy mid sweep. The only problem is that I'm having trouble determining the pinout of the Bc170b. Hints?

Google the data sheet for that transistor, I have BC108c s in my Experimental Clone Wah, try wiring a 100k mini pot in parallel with the the inductor where the 33K/100K resistor goes and then you can tweak the Q to get the best sound :jimi:

PS: If you have carbon comp resistors check them with an ohmeter to make sure they are within spec so your transistors are not biased too hot ;)

Hey man, thanks for the reply! They are mostly carbon film, couple are pihers, though that is on the to do list. I've looked everywhere man! No datasheets with pinouts!

Swapped to Bc108's, now the wah is very weak and quieter, hfe of the transistors was about 420. I've got shows this weekend so I can't do anything till Sunday at the earliest but does anyone know what could be the problem? I can post some pics on Sunday if that would help.

Thanks,

Travis

The Jen Crybaby I purchased new from Jim's Marshall shop in London back in 1969, still the best wah I have heard, Vox, you name it.
Worth saving.

Mhm! I gotta swap transistors again. It sounded amazing but noisy, then I installed one bc108 with the wrong pinout and after correcting it the wah sounded really weak. So I think I probably fried one. :P

all those old metal cans with the tab on the side are EBC from the tab and looking at the bottom of the transistor.

if you have a DMM with a diode function you can work out what the pinout is, it's just two diode junctions after all.

I did know that actually, but I thought the original transistor had a different pinout (couldn't find a data sheet). I have several more bc's kicking around so I might get it done this weekend.

I wasn't so much interested in the guts as the outside of the pedal...I'm a very superficial person
