Good good pickups, I have a couple of sets. You can get them from his ebay store http://myworld.ebay.com/sliders-vintage" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

He can make custom sets too. The attention to detail is amazing.

of course ! i keep saying they're great pickups ! no need to buy some vintage pickups : these are some perfect reproductions, at a high level, and sometimes he uses some bobins of wire from the 60'. a great guy to talk with too.
i've got a 59 set, and a 69 set but reversed : i wouldn't buy the fender 69CS stuffs .. :lol:

Seriously, no matter if he has a website like myspace. Buy through ebay, but anyway, contact him before anything, to tell him what you exactly want. He'll answer you and ship it, don't worry ... It's a good service.

Got a set on ebay and he shipped almost immediately. Several email contacts. Rod seems like a nice guy. They're going in my Road Worn Blackie to compare to a Rory custom shop and a '64 Strat. Results to follow if anybody's interested.

I'd like to hear what you think of 'em. I tried the 59SRV set a couple of months ago. For a while they were great but they don't do mellow. they are brighter in the upper mids than anything else i've ever tried for a 6k pickup. i'm back to the van zandt vintage plus.

I know Rod McQueen and he's a good guy. The fifties pickups are reverse engineered from vintage gear his mates have. For ten plus years I had been using a set of Kinman pickups, (which I think are an excellent low noise pickup, and they hang in there with the boutique stuff, though they are sensitive to string height and you have to find time to achieve your ideal set up.)

I had a set of grey back bobbins from my 82 Strat which had been poorly rewound. I stripped the old wind off the bobbins and spoke to Rod about rewinding them. He said these pickups used enamel wire instead of formvar wire, and they have a very different sound to the formvar wire, lots of tops and bottoms. I really didn't think I'd be all that impressed with the pickups as the Kinmans are that good.

To my surprise the pickups sounded drastically different and actually suited the guitar more than the AV56/AV56/AV62 Kinmans. If I had the Woodstock pickups it might have been a different matter. I was able to quickly sell the Kinmans and have been using Sliders pickups ever since.
