Re: New Klon KTR is out
Yeah, they sound exactly like the old ones. I know of a few guys here that got one. Not much with a Marshall, but does wonders with a nice clean tone from a Fender style amp. Probably one of the better overdrives I've heard in person. I'm not really a big pedal person, but its nice if you got one at the initial price. Around $269.00. Most are going for around $400-$500 on ebay now. Personally, its a $120.00 pedal to begin with.
Again, the hype surrounding them is overblown I think. Fear of waiting another 2-3 years for another limited run causes the hoopla to escalate. I got one pretty much by accident. Never intented to buy one, but got an offer from a Canadian newsletter I subscribe to. I guess some were on long waiting lists and never got a chance at one. Waiting for years and you don't get one? Yikes.....that really sucks for the pedal gear heads.
Depending on how you look at it, its either poor business skills or marketing genius. I think its both.

Re: New Klon KTR is out
I was in that pedal-building mode a few years ago, most of my pedalboard is homebuilt. I also designed a pedal called the BSIAB that is being sold by a few builders...
But I remember a few years ago there was a buzz about a pedal called the TIM that was supposed to work with Marshalls really well...

I built the BSIB kit I got from GGG. I like it. The Klon works as a clean boost with a Marshall, but you can build a clean boost pretty cheap.
I know Warren Hayes uses the Klon, not sure how.
The new Klon is using surface mount parts which has some skeptical. It does sound like the originals however.
