Getting a good condition Power Soak soon to use with my 16 ohm True Replica cabinet and 2005 1959HW head.
Anybody use Power Soaks here, any tips for operation. Thanks in advance.

I ran one for years on a 77 metalface. I pulled 2 outer power tubes (to run at 50watts) the amp was always wide open and the soak with a 4x12 cab was set at 12 O'clock for gigs. Worked great! Power tubes generally lasted 3 months before needing replaced. Cross between Angus and EVH type tone. The more you attenuate (reduce the volume) the more it affects the sound and compression.

I also used one for years running a 70' Super Lead into one 4X12 ,IIRC just couple clicks down with the volume on the amp around six. Amp was tubed with GT labeled RTF EL34's and Tungsgram ECC83's. Never had any issues..

I recall the directions are on the back of the unit.

I have a THD 8 Ohm Hot Plate which works pretty well sorry, as that doesn't help you a lot.

I have a PS Systems Power tool it is really cool, but hard to find..Back in the 1977 I started using a Altair PL5 I saw Steve Stills and Neil Young both use one...IT does work pretty good,with Fenders and you can run into a mixer and a speaker at the same time,and you keep your tea hot...I am sure you can use it with a Marshall but I would keep a fan on it It gets HOT

bobtec, funny you should mention the PS Systems Power Tool as I used to own one from new.
It had a load resistor burn up on me and had it repaired, but just couldn't get it to run well with my vintage Marshall heads at the time.
It was a great concept though.
