Boss OD-1 fans?
Anyone else really dig this pedal? I have an Ibanez SD-9 and SM-9, but I seem to just keep coming back to my old OD-1. Great sound IMO.

I opted for their OS-2 which is their overdrive/distortion (fuzz) pedal. This was after trying a boatload of pedals at GC, including the TS9 reissues and some of the Fulltone stuff. Fulltone was good...it just galls me having to pay near $200 for a distortion box...TS9...I like the sound but I could never seem to get enough gain from it at lower vols. I was about to leave and the sales guy started playing the OS-2 and it caught me by surprise....decided to give it a try...it's worked great with every amp I've used it with (Fender blues deluxe, marshall, budda) and it was inexpensive.

I picked up an OD-1 and got a $20.00 mod kit from
Superior Sound Designs. The pedal sounded really
good when I got it but after modding it, it really kicks
ass now. Below is the link to Superior Sound Designs

inre: MY BOSS OD1 Analogman mods
I had Analogman mod mine up. He used the original 1977 OD1 14 PRONG opamp chip and put that in it. ITs like having the smoothness of two JRC4558 CHips ! INcredible stuff. I also had him put a push-pull clipping mod off the level knob. Great stuff again where you can switch from Ibanez clipping to boss asyummetrical clipping .For me. I have gotten some of my BEST sounds in an all Analog SONY 24 track 2 inch reel to reel studio with my 1981 Marshall JCM800 2203 head/ matching cab "back then" and the BOSS OD1 . THis was even before I bought mine and had it modded.
THe engineer turned me onto an original 77 circa OD1 he had with the 3403 d chip in it ! It was the TUBIEST tone I EVER HEARD from a MASter volume Marshall! My 71 les paul custom sounded like a n all tube 110% strat wetness to it! yet thiccker with all tube and 0% preamp fuzz aropund the chords and notes. It was simply astonishing to say the least. I love it and use it as one of two main pedals with my current RIG#2 (1 1981 JCM800 2203 Marshall/BOgner uberkab v30-G12T75s xpatrn).
which is channel switched with mny 77 superlead/78 blackback check slant rola cab

Boss OD1. JCM800 72 lester. More level less gain!
