Jay Turser Guitars

Post by thunder970 » Sat Dec 04, 2004 10:24 pm

Has any of you tried or saw these guitars? I was looking at the sg type. For the money with set necks even if they need some upgrades would still be cheap. I'll be pissed if I get one and it sounds and plays as good as my Gibson but happy at the same time

I've heard OK things about the Tursers. But it seems like I hear more people raving about the Agiles. Supposed to be killer stuff with some upgrades for the money.
There's a place here in town that deals Agile and Turser both, but I never have picked either up and tried 'em out.

Check this out. What difference should I expect from the P-90 style pups compared to my 490 & 498 in my Gibson LP? I don't really care about looking different just a different sound in the mix with what I already have.

Yeah!! I would like to get one after the holidays and see what they are like. If need be I could change out some things as long as the neck and fretwire is decent. I just want to have a few guitars to play. At this price it is possible :D Just think, everytime you go to a friends house to jam...........Bring a different Axe

I have checked out the Turser guitars. They are fairly decent for the money. I would put them at the midline Epiphone quality. He has one LP style that has no binding and comes with a decent flame top which looked actually like a real top not a photo top. I would have put the grading maybe at a 4-5 for the top. I like the Snake lp knockoff as well as the Black Beauty knockoff. Im thinking about picking one of these up for my daughter after the new year.
Another company to look at is Babilon. But only look at their top of the line guitars, everything else is low grade pawn shop fodder quality.

Well, Tokai Love Rocks are always good but since Gibson filed suit with them the new ones arent availible, which is a shame because they look really really sweet.
The import Deans arent too bad, nor are the Platinum or higher BC Rich's. Not too sure how low budget you want to go or what your upper limit is for a beater is.

Ibanez Roadstar II's are fairly nice if you can find one. they are good quality and can take a beating.

There are a couple of others I know of but cant think of the names right now. Ill add more as I think of them.

What exactly are you looking for?

I'm not exactally sure. Thats why I wanted to look at several. I wanted something with P-90 style pups and sometimes I get the urge to wail on a whammy bar. I had an older Ibanez rg340 with a floyd rose that would stay in tune no matter what I did.

How is your take on Neck Through guitars? Neal Moser makes exquisite NT's, though at the guitars you have been pricing these would be way out of that league. Hell they are way out of my wish list league. But he makes exactly what you want.

That being said, I'm stuck ona decision on a new guitar for after the holidays for myself. I am looking at three different models, all Gibson. Either a V, SG, or LP. Cannot decide since Im buying used I have put a $1300 cap on spending. May you or others reading this could give me some suggestions. Pro's and Con's on each perhaps...
