Post by MarshallTone » Fri Jul 22, 2005 3:07 pm

Hello, in my marshall plexi , i have Svetlana El34 tubes, and they are just about wasted. How do the Elecrto Harmonix 6cA7 sound? Im goign for a Early VH brown sound. What tubes should i be looking ar for this tone? Are mullard El34 tubes any good? or maybe Elcrto Harmonix EL34?(sorry i dont know much about amps or tubes etc) Thanks

Even of the same type youll have to rebias. The GT6CA7s are supposed to be the better. I dunno. I really want to get some sylvanias but I just dont have over $200 for that. If your after EVH I guess the EH6CA7s would be better then Svet 34s.

I just eBayed a quad of RFTs (called Siemens and labeled Siemens, Tele, National, etc). I should get them early next week. There's a lot of good talk about those and they are much cheaper than Mullards...the quad was $121 shipped.

Wish me luck. :D

i got a quad of them except they are lorenz part of the RFT and siemens comp but i love the way they sound in my sb with the popping mains fuses but i will try some slo blos anyway they are better than jjs imo they have more of an AC/DC sound in my amp i tried it with the jjs but they didn't have the same magic but thanks for the reccomendations guys and i am not using a 4x12 i am using a 4x8 full range cab that might be the prob also. but RFTs are excellent i would buy another quad of them.
