New Genalex Gold Lion 12ax7?
Anyone try them yet? They are way more expensive than the new Mullards.

What a rip off. A rebranded EH12AX7 with gold pins just like the reissue Mullards they are the same preamp as the 12AX7LPS tube just rebranded.

I ordered 1 12AX7 a quad of KT66 Genalex brand and a quad of 6L6STR Tung-Sol. The sales rep from new Sensor tells me that the new Genalex 12AX7 is more for the High Fi audience; also the tubes are handpicked and balance.

The EH tubes, like the el-34 and 12ax7, are different to the Mullard reissues, even though they are made in the same factory. Some say they are the same, only relabeled. This is not true. The funny thing is, is that the regular EH stuff (like the el-34 and 12ax7) sound BETTER than thier more expensive Mullard branded stuff.
Go figure.
Go figure.

I knew for a fact that the Sovtek 12AX7LPS and the Mullard reissue are the same tube, I knew this because a new sensor sales person told me. I have other secrets to.

Not sure about the 12ax7, but the El-34 (EH) is different to the Mullard labeled EH el-34.

In your bag of other secrets do you happen to know if the EH KT88 and 6500 are the same tube? I've used both but I've never done a back to back test. I tend to like just about everything in the New Sensor EH line except for their 12AX7, 6L6 and EL34.

What about the 6CA7 Electro Harmonix tube. What can you say about that one? Is it their 6L6 guts in a different bottle? I've had very good results from using them in my Hiwatt DR504 and in a Sovtek Mig 60 guitar amp.
I've had good results from the EH 6550's in a JCM 800 head that I repaired for a customer and in experiments with the KT88's in a 50 watt Marshall but I never did a back to back test. They certainly looked about the same.

Were they kind enough to tell you how unreliable tubes with gold plated pins are in standard sockets?axeman wrote:I ordered 1 12AX7 a quad of KT66 Genalex brand and a quad of 6L6STR Tung-Sol.
