Hi guys I recently got hold of 3 x Mullard 12ax7 and 2 x GE El34 old tubes from a 74 Marshall 1987x
(used but sound great in my marshalls)
Any idea what these are worth, also how do I upload a pic of them?
Cheers - Peter

Open a photobucket account. Upload pics to photobucket under a certain resolution size (can't rememer what size it is here as it keeps changing...) and then link to it.
If you get the size right, using a direct link should make the pic appear in the post.
Failing that, you'll have to just link to the photobucket pic.

Well the good news is they are indeed british made Mullards, and the GE tubes are also XF2 Mullards made in Blackburn (my favourite EL34).
They look pretty clean, but I don't really like to put a value on used tubes without known test results, and something to compare to. Potentially quite a few quids worth.
But of more value IN the amp, in my opinion. Stuff like this should be enjoyed. You'll miss 'em when they're gone, especially the XF2's. (Unless maybe you happen to have the very best of 1960's RFT or Tesla tubes, which are also very good, but in different ways)

Re: Price Check: Mullard 12ax7 and GE EL34s
Thanks for the great info!
All I know is when I was at my amp techs yesterday and we fired it up for the first time it sounded great. The only thing of note was when the power tubes were biased up one read 37ma other read 41ma so not quite matched however still sounds good.
I was only thinking of changing for reliability issues as I intend to gig regularly with this amp and didn't know how the old tubes would hold up?
As a purely hyperthetical question, assuming they tested well what would you think they would be worth (obviously this is only a rough guide as I don't have any other data for you on them) ?

If they test very strong then they have up to $200 in them. If they test that strong though, they'll outlast at least 5 sets of CP tubes. Seriously, enjoy them.
