Just curious what you fine folks think of this monster? I've never heard of a KT-100, but then I guess that's why it sez 'newbie' or some such by my name. What is it, a Super 88 or something?

It does figger, though, that Chinese tubes were held in total contempt until I moved back from there. Yer killin' me here!

I wish you would try some. I've seen 'em around for a while but don't know of anyone trying them.

Oh yeah, it does have the same pinout as the 6550-KT88-KT90. I think it's supposed to be at the top of the heap for output.

Well, now that I'm no longer living in Hong Kong, my access to Chinese goods is the same as the next guys.

BUT if I stumble across a set, dooya think a pair would go in a 6L6 amp with just a bias adjust, or would other, more drastic measures be needed?

I've mentioned before, somewhere, that I hope to resurrect, then clone, my 100 watt Univox tube head. If I can milk a little more power out with some improved transformers and tubes, I'd be open to looking at the options. I'd like to stick to 4 power tubes, however, for the sake of simplicity. I've heard that 88s can go close to 100 watts pr pair with the right transformers, (but does it stay clean?) so they were my first suspects.

Go to univalve.net and do a search. I dont know any place with more info on more people trying out these rare kindsa tubes (for guitar amps anyway). Im positive Ive seen lotsa stuff about 100's there.

Antique Electronic Supply sells KT100's. Besides bias adjust you'll probably have to swap a resistor. I'd imagine you'd need the 1K's on the sockets too.
