Re: What preamp tubes are you guys running
Ok, the dickinson is a 66 super amp (not a super lead) with a few tweaks. So you're using the dickinson specs on a superbass. sounds good?

Re: What preamp tubes are you guys running
here's the specs I have (which if iirc are the dickinson specs):
Shared cathode 820/330uF
0.022 coupling caps.
470k/390pF mixer bypass
0.005bright cap on vol.pot
V2a 820/330uF
56k/250pF tone stack combo
220k bias splitters
0.1uF output coupling caps
47 k feedback res
0.1uF cap on presence pot connected to 8 ohm tap
2x100uF on voltage doubler stage
16uF on screen filtering (2x32uF in series)
32uF on phase inv.filtering
32/32uF on preamp filtering
Voltage dropping res: 10k,8,2k-10k-10k
(Whether this is the dickinson specs or not) the amp sound huge!!! It has double the output of my other two 100 watters, a bit less gain but has a really big and woody tone.

For a '45...
V1: Amperex Bugle Boy... I love this tube in V1.
V2: Some sort of 12AX7... usually a Mullard long plate.
V3: Tele smooth plate. They seem to let the whole amp "hang together" better when turned all the way up. A good, fresh RCA grey plate is a pretty cool PI tube too... as well as V1.

What's the best place to buy some of the tubes suggested above?

In the block logo clone:
V1 + V2 Brimar, V3 Tesla E83CC
The Brimars are super woody sounding, I love those in 50w Marshalls.
In the Bluesbreaker:
V1 + V3 Tungsram, V2 Tesla
The Tungsrams have harmonics galore yet fairly tight bass, works very well in the open back cab. Unfortunately one is noisy and only works in V3.

Re: What preamp tubes are you guys running
I've got tons of tungsram tubes from the '60s and on. Let me know if you're interested in getting your hands on some for replacement!shakti wrote:In the block logo clone:
