Groove Tubes Gold Series

Post by videocat23 » Sun Apr 10, 2005 10:47 am

I just bought a quad of EL34's and 3 12AX7's of the groove tubes gold series. The rating on the EL34's is a 4. Anyone used these before? What did you like/dislike? Thanks

I haven't tried them. What's the marketing hustle on the gold series? Are they hand picked? Extra tested?

Fighting to stay ahead of Velvet, one post at a time. But since we've seen more of him in the last two days than the last three months I probably won't hold the "most posts" title for long.

They feature a fancy paint job on the glass envelope done by the Cambodian love child of Lucy Liu and Herbie Hancock.

I wasn't aware of any special quirks or anything. I just got the hook up and a local guitar store so I took them

The gold series appears to be the "normal" Groove Tubes with all the testing, matching etc. The Silver series is the budget line. The sets of GT-12AX7-Ms I bought came in a gold box.

So there's no mystery, just a new carboard box instead of the plastic tubes.

No, it's Aspen Pittman's way of making you think the grid windings are made of 24K gold so he can charge $5,000 more for his tubes.
