Re-Bias Needed With New Rectifier Tube?

Post by Hazy » Sun May 15, 2005 8:19 pm

I got a new 5V4GA for my JTM45 clone which currently also has a 5V4GA for the rectifier tube.

Can I just swap out the new (RCA) for the old (GE)? I understand a different rectifier tube type might change the voltage and require a bias check. But, am I OK here without re-biasing?

Thanks,
Hazy

As much as you'd like to hope you'll be safe, I'd take the opportunity to check that bias again.

I Really Knew That Was The Answer

I just didn't feel like pulling the chassis for once to put in a new non-preamp tube. On the other hand, I'll get a chance to see what happens to the circuit with the NOS RCAs.

Thanks...
