Hi All!
I just got myself a pair of current production Mullard CV4004 to experiment.
The target is a 2204, with a TungSol RI in V1, Chinese 12ax7 in v2 and Sovtek LPS in v3.
First I tested the new tube in V1, but liked the TungSol better.
In V2, however, I liked how it sounded compared to the chinese. It seems to tighten the low end a bit, in a way I liked. Seems more clear.
So the same old question is: is it ok to use this tube in v2 (CF) ? I hear the TungSols and regular Mullards have problems in that cathode follower position, but what about the CV4004?
Any experiences with this tube at this position?
Thanks in advance!
Fabiano

Re: Mullard CV4004 in CF ?
I have tried Mullard's and Tung-Sol's in V3 , But the one that works.. At least for me, Is the Sovtek LPS... I love it in that position..... The Sovtek LPS is in all 3 of my Plexi builds... I never tried a CV4004... Sorry...

A genuine Mullard CV4004 is very robust and can stand anything you throw at it.
I use them in the PI or in a modded amp in V1 to help with micro phonics.
