NOS 12AX7's from Tungsram tubes....Any good for preamp in a JTM 45?

I can get a matched set for +/_ $120 NOS NIB

Don't pay extra for matched...that's for audiophiles only. But if you mean 3 for 120, then that price seems fair. Not a steal, but OK. I've heard lots of good things about them, have two on the way. Apparently similar to Mullards in sound, so I think they will be good choices for a JTM45!

I have a few tungsrams, great tone, very rich and lively with great prescence. I wouldn't say they're like mullards exactly, but they are good. The later 70's examples are warmer. $40 each sounds expensive to me. But I reckon you'd be better to buy three different tubes and play around with them in different slots.
