JJ-KT77- How many out there have tried them?

I like the JJ KT-77s for one reason. They are more 3-D sounding than other EL34s. I like tracking with them. Solos though, I bias up the EL34 original Teslas I have.

They sound great. I paid $62 for a pair a few months ago and they sound warm.

I am gonna score another pair of the KT77s though. I think they are the best sounding current production tube.

From experience now accumulated over the past few years, JJ tubes quality-wise appear to be all over the map. The KT77's were very impressive 3-D sounding and super stout when they first came out. Didn't even flinch when pounded with high voltage. Now they whimper and burn out quickly like light bulbs with my '71 Super Bass. I threw in an old early issue quartet and they're night and day from the brand new set that crapped out within a week - each chord you hit on the guitar looked like it would blow them up like a balloon, whereas the earlier issues didn't even glow. (biased adjusted for each of course.)

Same with JJ ECC83's. The latest issue are complete crap. 50% returns on new ones purchased.

Whereas, JJ's 6V6's are killer. Apparently 6L6's in smaller bottles. They sound good and hold up.

I've heard that the JJ factory is generally indifferent responding to quality complaints.
