Correct Vintage Input Jack for 1976 1960 cab?

This is what it sounds like, when cones cry.

0444's in 76. thats the latest ive heard of that stamp. got any pics? but they still could be muellers, what do your ears tell you when you play through them?

I think the mistake people make is thinking the cone codes are specific to a certain manufacturer. Thats definitely not always the case. The cone stamps resembling 1777 and 444 are celestion part numbers in my opinion, not manufacturer signature stamps.

Im convinced Ive got 1777 and 0444 stamped pulsonic cones on some of my mid 70's speakers, and Im convinced my early H1777 cones from 65 and 66 are exactly the same as my early 102 003 cones from the same period. similarly the SP444's are the same as the 014's. different stamp, same cone. in the mid 70's weve got same stamps, different cones it seems.

These are speakers. Let your ears decide!

Regarding the ear test, these are the only H speakers I've had, with the exception of way back in the late 70's so I'm no judge. M's are my bag for years now. Sadly all the caps are long gone and the spiders are hanging in there, just ...there in need of tlc :(

any pics of the fronts of the cones?

I think that could be a 1974 speaker. its not unusual to find the month and year letters back to front in late 74 and early 75. So GJ could well be Sept 1974, instead of July 1976. Unless your other speakers have their original black magnet covers?

I think a 0444 cone in July 76 would be on the unusual side.

The date mix up is one thing I'd forgot :? funny how in the day, they'd have know idea how much importance and confusion these little stamps would cause in later years!

74 makes sense now, as the cab has a vertical baffle strut and I was always of the opinion that the strut was taken out of the build process in 75? ...anyone?

Im not sure about the vertical brace, think Ive seen them on much later 70's cabs than 75 but could be wrong.

That cone looks very much like a pulsonic from the front to me, but without hearing it I cant confirm. Im pretty convinced these are the last few pulsonics even if no-one else agrees. Ive seen 1777's and 0444's from Feb 73 through to Oct 1975 so far (I think yours are most likely from 74).

Good to see someone else that has found some anyway. Proves Im not going completely insane.

LOL. Here we are intensely scrutinizing date codes, cone codes, round or sharp ribs, doping patterns, dust cap doping, lead wires, magnet cover colors and labels in an ever dizzying array of variations that don't hold true to a pattern, and we're obsessing over the minute details...and it shows that how many of us are not completely insane?

Please gents, we are insane, just not dangerously insane.

Got one of these. Not bad quality, but everything plastic is cheap to me. With the shipping, I may have gave Jim my money though... :?
