What amp are you using to drive this cab? Do you not worry to blow the speakers?

If I get 2 of those G12M's to put in my 2 x 12 slant cabinet, will my Metro JTM 45 Clone dimed blow the speakers?

JTM 45 = what 40-45 watts depending?

G12M's are rated at 20 watts.....

you're gonna blow them with a 45watt amp over time as they can put out around 60 watts cranked. Do what I do, wire two 16 ohms cans in series (32 ohms) and get a 32 ohm static resistor or variable resistor from your local electronics store ($5-10) and put it in a metal box with a jack (or use your $250 THD hotplate set to load) and run it off your second speaker jack of the amp. Now you have a 16 ohm total load, so set your amp at 16. The load box will take half the amp's power and turn it into heat while the other half (about 30 watts for a jtm45) goes to your new '40w' max G12M cab. Perfect amount of volume to play along with most drummers, very little tone loss -as compared to a master volume or attenuator - , andjust enough wattage for a vintage 2x12 cab to be pushed and breakup like it was designed but not blow the speakers. Your welcome. 2 years worth of research and experimentation for free. Rock on..........

bmf5150,

How would you describe the sound of your heritage G12M's? I purchased two of them and ran them with a Plexi 50 Clone through an Ultimate attenuator and I thought htey sounded really box-ey sounding...

wow,i now have them in a 4-12 cabinet.i find them to be warm, and sweet sounding.i would not consider them boxy at all.there my favorite speakers!i have had celestion g12h30,mcgourty,scumbags,and reis greenbacks.nothing and i maen nothing touches these speakers tone wise in my opinion!most of the vintage greenback owners that i have talked to (dave from legendary tones,ed from thd)love these speakers!
