Celestion G12m info for 1971 speakers.

Post by Bluesgeetar » Thu Apr 13, 2006 11:46 pm

I posted on the regular forum that Celestion emailed me and told me that the H1777 cone is the right cone that is supposed to be in a 1971 G12M 25watter. I just got the speaker I bought off ebay today and I compared the 1971 H1777 speaker to my 1976 1777 speaker. Night and day different!!!! These two cones are not the same!!!!! The 71 cone looks almost like it is made of hemp. THe cone is a much lighter color and the ribs on the cone are very pronounced and deeper. The 76 cone is black and the ribs are much smoother. The frame and speaker itself for the 71 is the same paint and everything on the 60s greenabacks. The 76 is a darker almost hammerite silvery goldish. More info coming as I emailed Celestion for some more answers I wanted.
