well £40 for the 8x4ft sheet of plywood i to make a birch back i would need to spend another £40 so i decided to use 12mm mdf for £6.

but my cab is costing me near £400 to do properly and that is using vintage speakers with basketweave, the basket weave was the expensive part.

If the average person was to do it it would cost £300 including tolexing and standard G12M or G12H as i am using G12H series type speakers not proper celestion reconed goodmans to G12H 55 spec.

If you were to do the cab with heritage you are lookin near £800

Yeah but I'm talking just the cab, no speakers, no tolex. So it'd cost £80 for just the cab with a birch back???

:?: I am getting ready to build a 4x12 cab and i guess i assumed
they were a dovetail joint. never really thought about it though. so
are they a finger joint instead? I am not covering mine, i have a millwork shop at my disposal and was going to use an exotic wood of sorts. I thing for me since its exposed ,a dovetail joint would look better.
whats your opinion.

Nice tight exposed finger joints are a very interesting look as well, you see lots of decorative antique boxes (recipe boxes and the like) done with exposed finger joints.......

Been thinking about a natural finish black walnut combo cab for my not-quite-a-TrainWreck chassis, so I'm gonna have to get a finger joint jig soon........

Still, I reckon that's a good deal for building a quality cab. I might build one and get some G12M-20 heritage's for it some time in the future.

The widest one I've seen is the 16" one at Sears, but it's $200. Most are only 12". Another cool way to do this is to use a table saw jig from Woodcraft, for $99. No width restriction, but the taller the piece the more awkward it is.
