Hey.
I'm tired of big and heavy cabs, and so is my back. I want a more portable cab so I'm having an XL 1X12 cab built (large enough to host a plexi 50 head on top) and now is the time for choosing the ultimate speaker. I'm used to EVM12Ls which I find great. I'm not into speaker distortion so these are great for that.
But I'd like you to tell me what speaker you would put in there for rock/blues tones ranging from SRV/Mayer to Gary Moore/Gov'T Mule/ACDC tones. Since there will only be one in there I think its power handling must be at least 80W. It will only be used with my next 1968 plexi 50 build.
Thanks guys!

Scumback H75 - no question.
I did a speaker shootout last night with a plexi style amp and recorded the results. I will post some clips when I've had a chance to cut and rearrange the output.
Each speaker had it's own place in life, but the H75 has a massive bottom end and heaps of top end clarity. Sounds massive.
I would recommend a 100w version. You may even want to explore the BB H75 for a little more upper mid sizzle.

The best-sounding speaker I've ever owned.

I'm in the EU so I had TubeTown in Germany make one for me. It's truly great. But if you're in the US you can ask Jeff Swanson over at Swanson Cabinets, he's in MA. His work is top notch and he can build you about anything you want!!!Logan5000 wrote:who is making the "XL 1X12 cab built (large enough to host a plexi 50 head on top)" ?

Scumback M75 or H75. Eminence Wizard would be a nice choice too.
