Help. Fake Celestion vintage 30.

Post by Gikar » Sat Nov 07, 2015 1:10 am

Good day. Help me please. I bought a new speaker Selestion Vintage 30 at one of the stores in Russia. There were doubts about the authenticity. Nowhere is it found what it AA16 on the label. If you take information from your site the speaker produced in 1968, but it is new. How can this be? Could it be fake? I am hope for your help. Thank you.

I can not upload photos. Here is a link to the album in facebook

HI ...No man it seems an authentic vintage 30 from 1985 - 2015 .... Not fake , legit 444 cone and all . It's just that contrary to the "vintage 30" label celestion decided to put on to market this speaker , it's not a vintage speaker so to speak , certainly not built in 1968 ...But it's a celestion anyway ...Hope it helps !

As Frenchie says, looks good to me too.

If you look at the celestion date codes...
http://celestion.com/speakerworld/guita ... ate_Codes/
I'm guessing they changed in 2014 (Z) and would have gone back to the '69/'91 order, Month, Year, Day.
So that would put your AA16 date as 16th Jan 2015
Maybe check with the Doc at celestion uk, drdecibel@celestion.com

The date code chart on the celestion website is full of oversights. Try this one:

AA is most likely Jan 2015, or could be Jan 1991.

There are NO modern Celestion fakes to my knowledge. They are not valuable enough for people to bother faking them. I have only ever seen fake pre-rolas because they have a high collector value.
