How Old is This Silver Alnico?

Hi I'm new to the forum. I bought two speakers the other day. One was a Vox silver alnico. Can anyone tell how old this speaker is? I noticed it's different in that the terminals are on the spoke of frame. I can't find any numbers on the gasket. The only numbers I can see are on the cone and I can't really make them out. It looks like: something 0Z 014 . But I'm not sure.
Thank you, Rick

That frame is a mid 60's frame with the terminals on the spoke. An 014 / 55hz cone would be non standard in that frame, as I'm pretty sure all the alnico frames were 003 / 75hz cones. You've got a cork gasket, usually they had a paper gasket with a 4 digit alpha numeric date code (such as 12LM) in ink on the front of the gasket.

It might also have the same type code in stamped ink on the frame paint, but I doubt it since the frame is older.

Look it over, or take some pics of the date code, then I can be more help.

Good luck!

Jim

Looks like a recone to me. The frame is circa 1964 or 1965, with a late 60's or early 70's pulsonic cone. Fwiw I have never seen a 55hz cone before Oct 1966. Doesn't mean they dont exist, but they are rare if they are out there, and usually stamped as 'SP444' on the earliest ones.
