Mojotone cabs

Post by Brevamusic » Sun Mar 26, 2006 2:33 pm

Hello, I'm new to this forum. Actually I've been coming to this forum for the last few months just to get information, but I've never really participated. I've gotta say, there's so much to learn and I'm a little overwhelmed! Anyhow, I just have a couple questions about those Mojotone cabs. I was wondering if they make cabinets for Bogner, or if Bogner just buys their cabs and smacks their nameplate on them before selling them? Also, compared to current production Marshall 1960 cabs, are the Mojotones so superior in tone that I should ditch my 1960 cab and buy one, or can I just replace the back panel of my 1960 with plywood and get a similar tone?

I don't know that they are a huge improvement in quality over the Marshall offerings.....for the money, why not try swapping the back for a ply one and see?

Thanks for the quick response...I will be planning to swap the back panel with a plywood one soon. Does anyone know where to get back panels, or would I have to make one myself?

I think most guys cut them themselves. Then you can try the panel for a while before spending the money and time to put vinyl on it as well, in case it isn't what you hoped.

break it down its the back panel, metal handles and grill cloth between them. you can get the metal handles cheap enough to swap. dont know how superior the basketweave differrence makes. if its that significant.

Bogner Cabs

Post by Yngve » Mon Apr 03, 2006 1:57 am

Yeah l heard alot about Bogner cabs and l tried their 4x12 V30B back in 1997, its been some years now, and in Australia they are rare as Hens Teeth. Plus l heard that they have nailed that woolley tone, but has anybody really opened one up and looked inside to say that they are different in construction, all l know they dont use Finder Joints but Rabbet and Daddo, quoting a better join and adds to the tone, which l dont agree apon. I think its a just cutting costs in labour hours. So who really makes Bogner Cabs? Maybe someone can put this Q to rest once and for all.

I got a MoJo 2 x 12 slant cabinet with Celestions in it, sounds great with my Metro JTM 45.
