Marstan Radiospares & 6P4T switch: NFB Resistor

Post by dommetro » Fri Mar 30, 2012 12:35 am

Hi folks. Just received my Electroswitch C4D0604N-A from Mouser to install in my JTM 45. Same switch described in the JTM45 Yahoo group. I have a Marstran RS tranny that right now is wired for 8 ohms. I want to be able to switch the impedance. Can I just run the negative feedback resistor to the output jack? Not sure I see any other option. BTW it is the stock 27k resistor. Should I change it to anything else? I'll be using it mostly into a 1960ax cab at 16 ohms, sometimes into an 8 ohm 1936 cab. Is all this foolish, and I should just run 8 ohms into the 16 ohm cab? Sounds alright, but not sure of the safety of it....much thanks for any help before I proceed with the surgery.

I've never used any of the ohms switching techniques for the RS OT but placing the NFB on the output jack is fine. I would not mismatch this OT though as you could damage the OT.
Patience is a virtue.

Thanks Brian, much appreciated. I will go ahead with the existing 27k nfb resistor and see if I hear any differences.
