Where to ground PT Faraday Screen using the "Larry" method

Post by Matt D » Wed Oct 16, 2013 9:34 pm

I am assembling a JTM 45 using I.G. Prazisions Wickeltechnik transformers from Ingo Gorges. His mains transformers have a ground lead for faraday screen. Where should this lead be grounded using the Larry scheme? Thanks!

I don't know where Larry would ground it, but those are generally grounded right to the lone AC ground. As far as I know, this is the only exception to the "AC ground isolated on its own bolt" rule. I have always grounded them there, when using PT which have this shield brought out to a separate lead, and have never had any problem or adverse noise artifacts.

Have you asked Ingo? - would be worth dropping him an email.

Sweet iron btw, Ingo makes NICE stuff.

I'd try to ground it together with the mains filter cap. but you could always experiment, listening for noise
