OK the faceplates will likely be finished this weekend. They look like this at the moment:



I also found gold spraypaint that matches my '68 Marshall closely enough (for Rock and Roll):


I'll probably start wiring on Monday.

Well, it has been a while and I ran into some obstacles. Either way, here is what I have so far. I'll start wiring tomorrow I think. The faceplates took a bit more time than I anticipated.




The inside is still empty and barren. I'll post more when I have more juicy bits. I'm redoing the rear plate, this one isn't really good enough.

I'm almost ready to drill the turretboard and standoff holes. Just doing final checks on my layout to make sure.

Checked the turretboard layout today, found a mistake. I'll check it once more before I take the drill out, tomorrow.

I also want to see what the local elctronics shop has in the line of lugs I can attach to the can capacitor's legs, they don't have nice rings to solder to.

I'm close to done with this one. I can't believe some people build them in a day O_o I still need to solder the fly leads, attach them to the sockets, controls, add the 100k on v2, OT, choke and wire the cap cans and finish the wiring to the two mode switches and the NFB switch.

I have pictures of my 18 watter, but the inside is pretty ugly, that was my first amp. It is dead quiet though and has been utterly reliable for the last 4.5 years. No, that's an original from 1968, it doesn't work, must still fix it. These clips are a different amp, the one on the right here.


The 1968 Marshall is a model 1930 Popular.

I'm sure all the electrolytics are done and needs to be replaced, also, one of the diodes was replaced and the tremolo's footswitch is missing. I'll try and source a new (old) footswitch for it but it needs quite a bit of tlc I think.

It's not an 18 watt (model 1974, or whatever the 2x10 would have been), its the model 1930 Popular. They marketed it as a 10 watt but it is closer to 13 or so. Uses a 12ax7 and two ECL86 tubes (pentode and triode in one, for push pull and phase inverter), solid state rectifier.
