Re: New Build
Amp sounds good. How would you describe the change from 16uF to 32uF for the pre amp filtering?

Re: New Build
increasing filter values did smooth up the tone but there are other ways to skin that cat (smooth the tone) and you could then leave the low filtering and you end up with a cooler more complex tone ime.

Re: New Build
That did the trick, good tight thunk on those muted notes and a nice bloom. Recording with a little more volume will richen up the tone plenty.

Re: New Build
waiting on an order from tube depot to make some more minor adjustments. Its almost there. Picked up a lexicon pcm80 the other week. Once this rig is dialed in its going to sound awesome. There is a store near me in tokyo called franken guitars that is all about evh. Thinking about taking this beast down there snd see what they think.

Re: New Build
Yep. I get that. I like the slight grittier/hairier of the 16uF myself.

Re: New Build
I really like how this sounds, I don't have time to mess around with my amp rite now, but to try and make it sound like your amp, i do. Can you share which cascade you are using and filtering on this recording.Lbrown3743 wrote:https://soundcloud.com/lbrown3743/1969- ... march-2015

Re: New Build
Its the standard 2204 front end. Everything else is normal. .68 on v1b and v2 with a 10k ohm on v1a. Filtering is 32 preamp, 100 mains, 100 phase inverter, 16 screens. Im also only running on about 98 volts from the wall. Big thing also is im running it through a boss ge-10. My goal is to have it sound the way it does now without the ge10 in front.

Sounds really good. Where in the chain is the PCM? In a loop?Lbrown3743 wrote:alright got the PCM 80 the other day. Not very good at using it. Sounds ok I think.

So, this is the 2204, how does it compare to your 12xxx build?
