Re: New Build
I got the 69 clone i built running one speaker jack into a cab and the other running into a THD hotplate. Then from the line out on the hotplate and into the PCM80. Then from the PCM80 into the effect return of another plexi and into a separate cab. I guess a wet dry setup.
The 12 series sounds almost the same to me. The 69 is more easy because it has a master volume. Still waiting on some more parts for the 69. I want to play around with the tone stack and the bright cap and see what it does.

Re: New Build
Alright been busy with work but found some time to change some specs. Removed the .68 from V2 and installed a 220pf, also removed the 500pf from the tone stack and installed a 1000pf.
clip 1 is straight into the amp

clip 2 is through a GE-10

I think it sounds better.

Re: New Build
Like the first clip, but the second was nice too, but the phase 90 made it a bit too heavy. That fat cap did what it usually does, which is good in a way, but kind of kills the low end definition. Why did you swap the tone cap?

You do mean a 220uF on V2, right?

I changed just to see what would happen. Out of everything I changed around that change had the most effect. Im going to keep playing around with it just trying to learn.Strat78 wrote:Like the first clip, but the second was nice too, but the phase 90 made it a bit too heavy. Re: New Build
Awesome! Also, experiment with ceramic caps in the tone stack and mix spots, there seems to be some nice dirt with ceramics vs. the silver mica's. Do you still have the bright cap on volume #1 pot? -Like echoplex1974's clip, the bright cap seems to complement the fat cap on V2A nicely.Lbrown3743 wrote:I changed just to see what would happen. Dude! These clips sound killer! Ridiculous clarity and punch! What speakers are you using (and what year/impedance?)

Re: New Build
I don't have a bright gap on volume 1. Since it it usually turned all the way up i was under the impression that it would not do much. I will try it though.Strat78 wrote:Awesome! The speakers are vintage 30's in a 1960AX cab.Sean_McFly wrote:Dude! These clips sound killer! Ridiculous clarity and punch! What speakers are you using (and what year/impedance?)

Re: New Build
So you have a master volume on this amp? Is it a standard volume pot after the treble pot pre-PIMV? The reason I ask is your clips sound really good. Where do you have the MV set for the clips?Lbrown3743 wrote:I got the 69 clone i built running one speaker jack into a cab and the other running into a THD hotplate. Re: New Build
yeah this amp is cascaded and has a ppimv installed. For those clips its running bedroom volume. Not to loud.
