This thread definitely should be sticky! Try 12 series filtering for more spongy feel. The 220k between master and treble does two things: makes the amp sound less thin on master settings from about 3-7 and acts as a grid stopper for v3 to avoid the "cymbal crash" sound of a collapsing PI.

One thing, where does the 100pf mixer cap thing come from? I have searched and haven't found a single post from rockstah about it.

Ahh . . . I thought the 220k resistor would reduce some highs. I'll put that in there. Not sure where the 100pf cap comes from either. I have a 250pf there now, but doubt there will be much difference.

I'm not necessarily looking for the EVH tone. I ran across a clip on youtube that sounded cool and it was the Mod 5. I'm looking to make a unique and cool Marshally tone with fat mids and based more on preamp gain than power tubes. However, I still want to push the power section hard too.

I have the preamp converted to a 2203 spec and currently not using the 220k between the treble and master. I will put it in there and try it out.

I'm not a huge fan of the PPIMV and how it reduces NFB when turned way down. A phase inverter being driven hard with no NFB and without the power tubes compressing and driving sounds bad to me. I have one installed on the amp anyway. It works ok to reduce the volume a few db. I would rather use an attenuator to reduce the volume. Both have their drawbacks, but the attenuator sounds better to me than the PPIMV. A little of both is good.
