Does it look like any of these?
Does it have Hex screws?
The Hex screw Mighty Mites came in Cream, Zebra and Black and if yours is a Hex screw Mighty Mite that measures 8.6K then I would say it's a Mighty Mite Vintage 1400.

The MM 1400's read at 9.5K according to the old literature

Yeah, but they seem to vary a bit.The MM 1400's read at 9.5K according to the old literature
I think Strat78 had one which was 8.85k http://forum.metroamp.com/viewtopic.php ... 0&p=298867" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

yeah i see that can happen with pu's. according to his clip he made with the MM 1400 that was probably the pup not the MM1300.leadguy wrote:Yeah, but they seem to vary a bit.The MM 1400's read at 9.5K according to the old literature

I think this clip with a MM vintage sounds much closer to VH1 than the DSD or MM 1300 does. it has some PAF character to it whereas those other two pus(DSD and MM1300) do not!

Re: Mighty Mite MFG 8.6k...
Ralle post some clips ASAP with that MM vintage! my vote is that is the ceramic he used in the frank when it was just black with a RW fingerboard. I really dont think he used a 13K pu on the 1st record at all, a 9K ceramic? yeah i can get on board with thatRalle wrote:Yes it's with hex screws, black and reads 8.6k...leadguy wrote:Does it look like any of these?

Re: Mighty Mite MFG 8.6k...
according to the info i could find mighty mite was copying dimarzios super d and super II when they offered their MM 1300/MM 1400 set. they are also know as the screamer set. LEADGUY may know about this maybe he will respondRalle wrote:Is it exactly the same?
It should be the same exact spec
I know the MM 1400 and super II both are ceramic,8.6K higher output pu's. despite the lower resistance reading they are wound to, they drive the amp as harder than other 8.5K PAF types due to the larger ceramic magnet.

Re: Mighty Mite MFG 8.6k...
If I got this right, This model compliments a DSD in a neck position but, can be used for Bridge?
It's true, since 1979 and still use today, that my absolute Fav aftermarket pup is a DSD but, I have not listened to a Super2.
D's description sounds just right for the bridge. I'm using a late '90's DSD and it's not exact to the '70's I had but, it's in different guitars..... I think this is a very good choice as I will try it myself.... and I'm a picky ass MoFo in this department....

The Mighty Mite 1400 is similar to the DiMarzio Super 2.
The Mighty Mite 1300 is similar to the DiMarzio Super Distortion.
Similar to does not mean exactly the same though.
