According to Rudy Lieren Eddie didn´t use any MXR EQ except for Eruption (Buffer to Univox echo maybe) when recording VHI. He had the Flanger, Phaser and Echoplex in front of the amp. He should know if anyone. I think Eddies tone on VHI more happened than was as planned as many seems to think. As Eddie has said there was a lot of partying going on and he doesn´t really remember. Nobody knew then that people would think that tone should be so special. They didn´t even know the album would sell.

My vote is for the variac and not the attenuator. Dropped voltage to the amp makes the tone very chewy and raw. LOVE IT! It's greeeat!

Is that is writing somewhere?
