I think it's the EHs that are real 6CA7s. I been using those in my Marshall and am very impressed with the tight bottom and flat midrange.

I have JJ's. Good but I wouldn't call my low end tight, not sure if it's the JJ's though, could be something else. Might have to try the EH next.

I am leaning EH but interested in all the floating info about the JJ being identical almost to their 6L6 minus the shape of the hole in the plates. I find that interesting but dunno as I haven't either real 6c's or JJ 6c's to compare between or the 6L6S's that I do have.
I have JJ E34L's in there right now but are kinda wubby on the low end-wooly and cloudy sounding jacked up.

When installing the EH's is there any modification needed to be done on handwired Plexi's? Or they go straight in and bias them up like usual?

I have 4 Sylvania's, two GE's and 4 EH's. All fat bottle 6CA7's. I've compared all of them in pairs. The EH's are all you'll ever need. Simple as that. It's THE tube. 8)

+1 on the EH's.

They are great sounding; clear top and good bottom in both clean/dirty settings.

I've been happy with the EH but in all fairness I haven't compared to JJ. I did have an issue with the first batch a few years ago as some of them were really biasing really high out of the box and I had to separate those, adjust accordingly of course and use on my 50 watter. Now I see Tube Depot is selling these separately for less $$.

I heard they had issues in the opening runs of the EH6C's. Which is shitty because this is a definite good tube to be pumpin out these days when there is nothing else filling the void. Hopefully they addressed and took care of underlying problems.
I know when I used to work back in the car factory stuff years ago-
a new model run and change of manufacturing always presented with unforeseen bugs to work out early on and then later ran smooth as silk before they would recreate another new design and it would start all over again. I think that could be the same with many manufactured things

I originally had JJE34Ls and really hated them....

I have no experience with big bottle JJ's but before I got on board with the Sylvi's, GE and EH big bottles, I did have a pair of JJ EL-34's. Not the Winged C's, I though they were great sounding to certain point. When pushed hard, they came apart and this was with a 2203/4 front end so with a NMV plexi circuit, I would think they would wouldn't hold up nearly as well.
