Rockstah Mod 5 Orange Amp

Post by white noise » Sat Jun 13, 2015 8:58 am

I though I would give an update for the Orange Rockstah Mod 5 amp, I purchased it from the guy in Canada and brought her back to Texas.

Here are a couple of pictures:

Left to Right: Mark's '78 JMP MKII Superlead (testbed amp) - Rockstah Mod 5 Orange - Mark's '79 2203

I'm sure he would be happy they went to someone who appreciates them. Wasn't the 2203 damaged a bit by UPS?

I think he would be happy too.

No, it was the 78 JMP MKII, the head cab was damaged in shipping by USPS and i had Bob over at Sourmash Cabs build another for it, he builds great cabs.

The middle cab is a 1968 bottom cab - Serial 19542 with original 102 014 Pulsonic cones.

whoa ! even better ! :D

yeayea... Mark matched up the Mod 5 spec to (a quad of) 6402's. I would be keen on a loaded PS cab.
Before that in his travels tried out the Stan spec's...

Don't feel bad, Brother. It's not the speakers... it's an original PS the cab that is hard to track down.
(Mark spotted his at a music store)
Anyway his not-so-generic line-up would be Alder/Ash newer DSD/basketweave cab with 6402's & Mod 5. Lost track if he was going with ARS pre's....
BTW where is that cab? No worries, I'll find out when I'm visiting this Sept...

Jimi,

Mark's cab is at his parents house with another Original ground up Rockstah Mod 5 that he built (like the orange amp)on top of it, with his Les Pauls and red Strat. Jeff sent me a picture of it a while back, I'll see if i can find it.

Visiting??? in Sept??? Are you going back to Walnut Creek?

Is this the mod5 amp from Canada where the seller wanted an extraordinary amount of money for?

Did you have to pay an arm and a leg?

Yes, that's the one (the youtube clip #3, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqt30ofJsAU ), and no not an arm and a leg.

Yeah I always liked that clip. I like the chirp/grease he got on nighttrain. Sounds killer. :worthy:

You should post a clip of it. It would be interesting to hear a mic'd version and a cell phone ambient clip too.

I'm glad the amp went to someone who can really appreciate it.
