I hear ya man, I had the same 25uf at v2 on my 12xxx clone at one point of tinkering. I remember that with my LP it was one of the better tones I ever got with that amp. I didnt have it there long though, cause I kept messing around with the plate and other stuff and it started to sound 'off' with the other changes I was making. I should have kept notes of what changes I was doing.echoplexi1974 wrote:Good points Andy.
I really like the sprague atom 25uf (v2) in my 68' plexi. It just bumps the gain up a tad.

Are you guys talking about adding the 25uF to the already 820/.68 or adding the 25uF to a lone 820 Ohm?

Exactly. Rockstah's clips were the best IMHO.echoplexi1974 wrote:I can't get past that stupid reverb effect on his voice And he's really hung up on that echoplex circuit running TIS58 @ 20-24V.
Most players clips here at Metro are clear winners over this guy's tone IMO.

Jnew, I just put it across the 820 resistor (no .68uf). Definately boosts more mids/lower mids as compared to the extreme upper mid/ high end attribute of a .68uf there.

I was just curious. When I put the 330uF in parallel with the .68, it doesn't boost any more than the .68 does on its own, but it lets bass frequencies through.

I agree with James, the fat cap doesn't add gain, just more lower frequencies. I like the 25uf sprague
