:peace:
"It" goes monthly, and I should be able to by March...
Need to pick up a 2nd variac in that time.. Would be nice to have same models (like Ed's dual Ohmites''s), but at this point sounds like it is not necessary. I have recording ready with an SM57 w/op-amp mod into Nuendo or Protools... Just need an amp & my left hand to work and I'll hammer out some tones from the '69 SLP build when it's up and runnin'.
I asked to hear it dry trying to perk up the ears next to Ralle's that has no post effects. Also the wiring of that cab, if it was stock with stock gauge as that too plays a part with ohms/impedance/tone, but suspect not crucial at this point; liken to pickups. speakers, wood........
aka-selzter yes, but I I suspect some of the Silver lining lies in the studio; but it has to have "it" from core.

I can post it dry but not till I'm back home next Wed. But you are hearing "core" tone as I only have an SM-57 and an iMac. There is a touch of verb and delay but no EQ going in any way. The SM-57 is modded in that the transformer has been removed but I'm really curious to know about your SM-57 mod there Jimi boy. 8)

Yeah, just pulled the same tubes out of the 50 watter for as close a comparison as I could.

Yeah. It's weird too because the impedance reads all over the place when measuring the secondary side and dialing the knob. Not in a steady way either. The primary side just measures a steady 3.2 ohms regardless of where the dial is.

My apologies James, it is exactly what you say: The Shure SM57 "Tape Op" Mod
( IIRC NY Chief posted a forum link for more scrutiny on this somewhere in the S&R section.)

Haven't been on the forums too much lately, but damn, that TYWHome clip is nothing short of AMAZING James ! You really have excellent recording abilities for sure (amongst many other things as well  )
