Anyone have feelings about a dbx 1046 compressor/limiter

I am working with a guy that owns SCubed Sound and I am curious how you guys feel about the dbx 1046 Compressor/Limiter. Any recommendations on how to get this thing set up properly? We are not having much luck with it (or just a lack of understanding).
