"Cause I got a Presonus Firebox. Beautiful looking thing.
Its 4 X 6, but its really just for demos. I'll be resourceful. Didn't Glyn Johns only use 3 mics on Moon's kit? Hehe...
Getting the hang of it, I'm using Cubase 4 on a black MacBook (2.4 Ghz duo core with 4 gigs of RAM)
Very portable, sounds decent, I don't have any monitors though. I'm using a pair of borrowed Sennheiser HD 280 pro's for tracking and just screwing around (no serious mixing going on!).
Tried to find the deadest room in my house, which still isn't that dead (carpet floor with a big ol bed in the middle but the walls are drywall with paint), but did a little take of pinball wizard with far micing the acoustic (per the Townshend method I read about in EQ mag). Used a beta 57a (also borrowed).
Electric guitar has been going straight into the board . My superbass is downstairs, have to wait for everyone to leave to crank that sumabitch up. Used the Camel Crusher plug-in for straight in dirt for the guitar, doesn't sound THAT bad.
Any good VST plug-ins? Preferably free?
