Hey all,
My kit that I posted pics of is KILLIN!!!
After I built it I took it over to Paul Cochrane of "Tim" pedal fame. He had me do shielded input wires and shielded the wire that went from the 2 volume pots to V2. He did this really cool thing where he mounted the 2 470 resistors and cap right between the pots and ran a shielded wire directly to the V2 tube. Man, what a difference in noise!!!!
And he had me change a few grounds around to get rid of a little loop hum... I can't exactly say what I did cause he coached me through it, but what I can say is the amp is smokin' and Quiet!!!! Even pulling up the original green wires the amp was a little on the noisy side, but now it's really great!! He mentioned a few more ground loop possibilites, but I am done tweaking for now
I'll take another pic this week to show you guys what got changed around...

Here's the shielding that I did per Paul Cochrane ("TIM
Hey All,
finally got this pic up. Here is what Paul Cochrane did for me. It really, really quited the amp down!!!
He basically took the 470 resistors and 500pf cap off the board, connected them directly to the pots and ran a shielded wire (Shielding is under tube) and ran as short a wire as possible to V2...
The only other change I made was going to the .0022 cap for the bright channel. I am not using a bright cap across the volume control...

heritage amps are sounding GREAT!
Hey There,
Yeah, Paul is doing some VERY cool things with the Heritage line. They are about 4 miles from me and I get over there 1 time a week if I can. I have a feeling that Heritage will be up there in the amp world very soon!

What kind of noise did the shielding fix? Was it hum or hiss?
Did shielding the input wires affect the tone or response of the amp?
