Hmmm... Looks freakin' fantastic! But that later JMP style headbox looks a tad awkward without the script logo on it. This may have been covered before, but is there anyway or anyone that would be willing to make a "MetroAmp" Marshall script style emblem for these amps? I think that would just complete the look. In fact... I think all the other amp kits could use one of those white script logos. I know the block logos are available but it would just be 10 times more badass if there was a white MetroAmp script emblem on all of these amps. My opinion.

Hi guys,

I've recently been able to try my friends 2203 which is dated to 1984. Does anyone know what revision of the 2203 circuit would have been in use at this time and how the circuit in this kit differs. Furthermore, would this chassis fit a later style JCM800 head cabinet?

Thanks, Sam

Agree 100% on the logo Adam. I held a gold block logo up to the cab and it was immediately clear that it didn't work. We're working on a large, white script Metroamp logo. But I don't know if it will be ready for th May 25th shipping date. If not, anyone who ordered a kit will get one when they come in.

Tux, this chassis should fit a JCM 800 box just fine. But I can't guaranty the mounting holes will line up.

Sounds like a great kit choice. I think it just usurped an 18 watt as my project for next winter.
Questions though...........Will Metro offer it in custom colours? Is this a different circuit than the JCM800 models? I believe Canadian models were made with toggles instead of the rocker switches. Will that be available?

Unfortunately there is some downside for me as the Canadian dollar is not so good right now vs US dollars. You can still pick up a used JCM800 for $1,000 - $1300 Canadian. But there is still the upside of building your own "quality handbuilt" amp. Price isn't everything that's for sure. :D

Thanks!

I can do custom colors for these, but not for the initial roll out. Let me get started shipping them out the door and I'll look into it.

No toggle switch version, sorry.

The circuit is the same as early JCM800 2203's, save for one cap. A 10pf on V1, which was added circa '80 or '81.

A 100pF added in the early eighties.........and how does the chassis fit into a JCM800 box with the mounting tabs on the ends instead of folded back under the chassis?

Sorry, just keeping you honest O Velvet One.........

Thanks Flames, I needed another "0" there.

I seem to recall the mounting centers were pretty close, even though the chassis are different. I don't have one here right now to check. Anyone have an 800 to take some measurements.

I don't have any here at the moment, but I know that the mounting centers are the same at both chassis variants.

The fault almost always is sitting in front of the amp

Thanks! No instructions posted yet, I'm still writing them.

it's taking much longer this time because I stop after each task to make sure the pictures, diagrams and text are clear and make sense. And for me, that means a lot of editing. Ha ha!

Good job George on the amp, it looks great. Is there anyway though that you can change the faceplate on it so that it doesnt say Metro on it...for authenticity sake?
