It's safe as long as you are thinking about what you're doing. If you're careful, you can't get hurt. Think about how much better you will know your amp when you've assembled it by hand, that's really useful. Not only are you building a kick ass amp, but you're learning how it works.

2. 1990s Fender Dual Showman
3.JTM45/100 Build

~Future Amps~

2. Lots of Metropoulos amps

Thats a good point and thats the biggest reason why i would love to be able to do this. I just dont have the confidence in myself as a technician lol. Plus im the kind of guy that would rather have something done right the first time than try it myself and screw it up. Maybe i can start on a smaller amp kit to see if i can get the hang of it and attempt a larger build later.

Bear in mind that the instructions tell you EVERYTHING. Building an amp to George's instructions is easier than replacing a board in another amp IMO, unless you have equally comprehensive instructions.
Do it man, just go SLOW. The tortoise ended up with a quieter, more reliable, better sounding amp. :wink:

I just built my first kit, I have to say it wasn't as hard as it looks.

I did my research, bought a good iron and built an amp stand.

I took my time, it came out very neat and sounding great.

Would gladly show you mine, and or build one for anybody if they were local.

Hell, I'd happily build one for free for anybody local too. The downside is, it'd probably take me about four weeks. Time is a precious thing.

If you're really not comfortable building, 'm sure there are many folks nearby that would be available to build one for you reasonably. Perhaps a list of people that would contract their skills would be appropriate.

Hi!
Are you guys aware of any other kit than the JTM45 coming up soon? The 50 watter maybe?
George have you reached any conclusions as to what will be and won't be in your shop yet?
Thanks!

Antique Electronics carries them... http://www.tubesandmore.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Look under the Alpha brand and you'll find a selection of dual pots. Happy modding.
