Start with cheap and easier kits
5W Single Ended amps (Fender 5F2, Gibson GA-5, or about any AX84.com project)
18Watt Marshall
5E3 Fender Tweed Deluxe
these are considered to be easier builds.
Then when you know you're ready for the real deal - go with Metro Kit and you'll have some knowledge and skills not to ruin the build.
On the other hand, watch this, and read the comments:

That's this amp:

Those "camcorder" videos cost him more than 10 grand.slashsound wrote:LOL, come on, if 200 people buy the video, it will pay for it self. Also... bro.. you dont need 10 grand to make a video. Look at the Kendrick " tube amp service video " or what not....all you need is a cam corder and somebody to hold it...oh and maybe a big chalkboard...lolBig Mike wrote:But do you wanna pay 10 grand?
He is being nice.slashsound wrote:Southbay Ampworks wrote: Slashsound, think of the big picture, and not just yourself, would ya? Sheesh. There's so much more to this than your accelerated learning curve.
LoL, I dont think I would be the only one that would benefit from this. Be nice bro.

knowing Jim as well as I do, I'd have to agree....thousandshirts wrote: He is being nice.
I've only built one, and I still have some questions but usually I can find them doing a search, or checking the wiki, and have had some very nice members chime in and help me.
But you have to be willing to do the work.

It never fails to amaze me how many people want the accelerated shortcut on how to do or achieve something that's worth real money, time & effort for peanuts or for free. As if.slashsound wrote:LoL, I dont think I would be the only one that would benefit from this. Be nice bro.
And the other guys who actually know me personally on this board are right. I am being nice. You don't want to see the brimstone spewing satanic side of me show up...not without an asbestos suit and your life insurance paid up.

Just did a quick YouTube search, and there are an unbelievable amount of tube amp related vids to digest.
All for free.
Here's one that was first on my search:

Re: Metroamp "How amps work" videos, a possiblity?
you can compare the video of "how to make spaghetti bolognese" to "how amps work"?
You do realize that in order to understand the entire amplifier and each and every component's role in the amp you need to have MASSIVE physics knowledge which simply can not be put on a DVD or 2 DVDs. People do university degrees to be able to understand and create circuits properly. You can find huge amount of books writen just on the topic of preamp sections of amplifiers. How would you put it on a DVD?
If you need a video of how to make an amplifier than this might help you:

Thanks, I have seen this series 3 times already, this is kind of what I was hoping George would do since he is such an amazing designer.OnTheFritz wrote:Just did a quick YouTube search, and there are an unbelievable amount of tube amp related vids to digest.

You know, lol, people once used punched paper cards in order to make computers work and it took forever to calculate anything, now a days they made the process much more efficient, dont you wish you had a Dual core computer back in the 70s? Well, just as im sure you would, I also wish I could have Tube amp video instruction from George, if he doesnt want to do it, fine, dont fault me for asking. As I said before, I dont want it free.Southbay Ampworks wrote:It never fails to amaze me how many people want the accelerated shortcut on how to do or achieve something that's worth real money, time & effort for peanuts or for free.
