George, Help ! my Heyboer 100W PT have 2 extra wire !!!

Post by Souelle » Sat Dec 02, 2006 2:40 am

Hello George,

I just received your 100W kit, and I got a question about my Heyboer Power Transformer, the color doesn't match the Heyboer PT schematic. In fact, there's 2 extra red wire on the secondary.

What are they for, and can you let me know if I the following description is right ?

Primary :
orange = common -> Mains fuse
red = 120 -> Power switch
violet = is it 240 or 220 ? the schematic say 240, but in that PT description you made in the store, you have written violet 220 -> Cut
blue = same question -> Cut

Secondary
2 x blue = B+ Supply -> to standby
1 x yellow = CT -> to Filter Cap

2 x red (they are not on the schematic...) What are they for ? Do I simply cut them ?

1 x white = Bias supply -> to board (27k resistor - bias)
1 x green -> to ground

2 x Black (16G) = Heater Supply -> to V7
1 x Green/Yellow (16G) = CT -> to ground

Here's the infos written on the PT

100 WATT PT
HTS-6010-80
022798

Thanks a lot

You've got one of the ones with two voltage options.....the two red wires are the (roughly) 500V leads, the two blues "should" have a red stripe and they're the (roughly) 400V option........

Check it out here with the daigram available:

Sorry for the confusion. I've realized that I can't afford to stock so many versions of 100 watt PT. So I'll be adding these extra taps to th standard models. And I'll standardize the color schemes.

The two red wires are the lower voltage secondaries. if you don't want to use them, just shrink tube the ends and tie them off.

ok thanks...

So it means that I can used the red wire (to standby switch) if I prefer to run my amp at lower voltage and the blue one if I prefer the standard voltage, right ?

Get the three position standby switch and wire it for both voltage settings! It's good stuff. 8)
