I was checking out the Ceriatone amp site and their transformers and realized they don't say too much about who makes them or what materials are used. Does anybody know? How does Ceriatone transformers stack up to say Heyboer or Marstran?
Some of the clips I've heard don't sound too bad but I'm not doing an A/B side by side test either. Thanks, TJB

Re: Ceriatone transformers
Niks stuff is great. its cheaper to get the amp without the trannies and then add your own here but i think he is making some changes regarding kits etc not sure. Ive only replaced one overtone PT since i started building his kits over 4 years ago now. I guy in midwest somewhere sent me two dozen overtones to build for him. only one pt so far had to be replaced.

Re: Ceriatone transformers
transformers are pretty decent but may not be historically correct

Re: Ceriatone transformers
I had a JTM45 at one stage and compared the OT to a heyboer and thought the Ceriatone OT was every bit as good tone wise. On the other hand I've still got a couple of amps with their PTs and they both have that tranny hum which I hate and they get hot as well. I won't ever use their trannies as long as I can still get the Classic Tone ones, great price, great tone, they have a cheaper PT and one a little more expensive with M6 steel that runs cooler so you get a choise, none of their PTs have the hum in my exp. The Ceriatone JTM45 PT blew very early on in the peace but my other two are still going.
I think this is the mob that makes the trannies for Nik http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j ... fvZiT859DQ

I just replaced the Ceriatone Transformers in my Expression, to Heyboers. In my case, the Heyboers crushed the stock Ceriatone trannies..... The Promethius trannys were pretty harsh sounding by comparison. I did change the stock JJs to GT EL34Ms, and the 12AX7s to Tungsols. So I guess ymmv, but I am pretty amazed at the differences I am hearing.
