Just curious to hear any good/bad experiences at someone else's expense before I try something.

I just installed a new Edcor XSE15-4-5k for a vintage Vox AC4 clone and it sounds great. It was only 20 bucks plus ship. I would definitely use them again for another project. This one in particular has only a 4-ohm tap which is all I wanted. The MercuryMagnetics AC4 OT is $130 (with 3 taps), and the Hammond (also multi-tap) is $43. It was a $20 experiment that paid off. :)
