Mercury Magnetics ToneClone PT MP100-460

Post by zigna » Sat Oct 18, 2008 6:21 am

Hi guys,
here's Daniele from Italy, this is my first post here.
I really need your help!

I bought a metroamp, plexi replica kit with mercury transformers.
Now I'm wiring the PT, but the wires on the transformer aren't the same on the assembly instruction PDF that came with the kit.
In particular, the instructions say that there's a green wire with a black stripe for the center tap.
My mercury transformer hasn't a green wire with a black stripe.

I have this wires on the PT:
side one: 1 red wire, 1 blue wire, 1 orange wire, 1 violet wire, 1 green wire

side two: 2 solid black wires, 2 brown wires, 1 yellow wire, 1 grey wire, 1 green wire, 1 blue/white wire, 1 white wire

I haven't got a green wire with a black stripe.
Is it normal? Can I continue assembling without this wire?

please help me!

thank you,
daniele

its funny top me how they change colors of wire and make things confusing.

side one:
1 red wire, 120v
1 blue wire, 220v
1 orange wire, input (common )
1 violet wire, 240v
1 green wire (i guess this is 100v)

side two:
2 solid black wires, heaters
2 brown wires, b+
1 yellow wire, b+ center tap
1 grey wire, maybe a different bias supply?
1 green wire, bias
1 blue/white wire, heater center tap
1 white wire bias

email mercury magnetics with this info and ask whats up.

Yes that is the really irritating thing. Sure you can rig it up and test each wire to see what comes out with input but you should not need to do it with a new transformer straight from the supplier :?

Old thread, but I'm having the same issue. 100 Watt Plexi kit. Mercury Magnetics MP100-460.

I have the wiring diagram from Mercury. But, there's nothing listed for the center-tap...

I have:

Primary side:

Orange - 0V
Red - 120V
Blue - 220V
Violet - 240V

Secondary side:

Blue/White - 175V
Yellow - B+ 0V
Grey - 175V
Black - heater
Black - heater
Green Filament (primary side) 6.3V @ 7A
Green - bias 93V
White - bias 93V
Brown - Accessory 9V
Brown - Accessory 9V

Is one of these the center tap that goes to F6 cap's ground lug?
